The guidelines in this section are intended to aid in developing institutional policies governing the care and use of animals.

The American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) endorses the United States Government Principles for the Utilization and Care of Vertebrate Animals Used in Testing, Research, and Training, and requires that all papers published in our journal Contemporary Topics in Laboratory Animal Science report research conducted in conformance with these principles.
