Santa Fe Institute Research Opportunities for Undergraduates
"Students work with a faculty mentor on an individual project focusing on some aspect of the computational properties of complex systems. SFI's broad program of research is aimed at understanding both the common features of complex systems and at comprehending the enormous diversity of specific examples. Projects focus on adaptive computation; on the physics, mathematics, information science, and the computational aspects of complexity; on economics as a complex, adaptive system; and on the life sciences including modeling of the immune system, theoretical neurobiology, genetic data analysis, theoretical ecology, and models of protein folding."

NIH Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research
"The Summer Internship Program (SIP) at the NIH provides an opportunity to spend the summer
working side-by-side with some of the leading scientists in the world in an environment
devoted exclusively to biomedical research. Students sixteen years of age or older who are
U.S. citizens or permanent residents and are currently enrolled at least half-time in high
school or an accredited U.S. college or university are eligible to apply. Students who have
been accepted into a college or university may also apply."

IRIS Undergraduate Internship Program
The goal of this program is to involve undergraduates in seismological research projects at the universities and research institutions that belong to the IRIS Consortium. Undergraduate interns will work directly with a researcher from one of the IRIS member institutions. Research projects may involve deployment of seismic instruments in the field (within the US or internationally), or analyses of seismic data in a lab setting (for example investigations of Earth structure, earthquake sources, seismic hazards) at the IRIS member institution.
